Murphy’s Law & Your Vacation Copy
There is an old adage that states if something can go wrong, it will. We call it “Murphy’s Law,” and we’ve all fallen victim to it at some point or another. When your vacation is on the horizon, take the extra steps to ensure you enjoy your time off.
Expect the unexpected
As an example, we recently had a customer who was embarking on a three-week overseas trip and within hours of leaving for the airport they noticed their hot water tank had sprung a leak the night before and had flooded out a section of their rented out basement suite. Timing on behalf of the hot water tank was less than ideal, but surprisingly enough, this type of thing happens more often than not.
Be prepared
You probably spent some time planning your vacation. Before you leave, doing a little more planning and taking a few precautions could save trouble and money in the long run. - If you're not sure whether something is a potential plumbing problem or not, have a qualified plumbing company do a review before you leave town, for piece of mind. Better safe than sorry. - If you're away from home for an extended period of time and no water is required by a rental suite, irrigation system etc., turn off the water to your house. - Have a neighbour, family member or friend periodically check in to make sure all is good - Have a backup plan along with contact numbers for those in charge while you're away in case something needs to be addressed.
Be prepared, and enjoy your vacation—you deserve it!
